Alas, although I had a touch of Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in my mind, the singing was reserved for later in the night from their brilliant band, and not in the rain. It does bring me back to the night however, where I caught a stunning image of the newlyweds, in the gardens of the Three Horseshoes. Backdropped by romantic, bright bulbs, a shining light of optimism for their lives together, Robert, ever the gentleman, sheltered his beautiful bride Bethan from the drops of rain around them.

Sometimes, it's not until you take a step back and look at your working life, that you suddenly gain a little extra affection for your profession. Working for yourself in the wedding photography industry can sometimes be a bit daunting and a touch lonely. Looking back across 2017, I was reminded just how lucky I was to spend so many wonderful days in the company of friendly couples all looking to celebrate their big day. Lonely? No way!

Now that I've mentioned Vegas, you might be thinking that the whole wedding day was a whirlwind of showgirls, neon lights, fabulous water displays and card games... alas, that was not the case... it was so much more. My Saturday with Amy and Nick took place at the marvelous Manor Hill House in Worcestershire, and for those that have seen it, or indeed been there, you'll know it offers a romantic, rural setting for your big day, coupled with a touch of boutique elegance and class.

Now, having just gone into superlatives overdrive, it would be amiss of me not to begin with a little more about Lee's little Defender. As a man passionate about all things Land Rover, the world renowned off road vehicle manufacturer (built not all that far from me in the Midlands), Lee, our groom to be, carried that passion through to his own motor. I always admire a clean car, but this little beauty could be used as a dinner plate, you really could eat your evening meal off of it.

As a wedding photographer, I get to meet a lot of brides and a lot of grooms. Some stick in your mind for years to come, for good or bad. Sometimes though, you meet a wedding party, a family or a group of friends that really make an impression on you as a whole. In the case of Kirsten and Matthew, you really get a sense of just how much their friends and family mean to them. And whilst I always believe in the phrase, 'ladies first', on this occasion I must mention Matthew before Kirsten, or perhaps more specifically, Nan Dorothy and Grandad Frank.

Over the years I've had the pleasure of meeting so many lovely couples whilst being a professional photographer and along the way, I've met the odd celebrity here and there. When I was asked by the wonderful Helen and Martin to photograph their wedding day on Saturday 13th August 2016, I wasn't expecting to be surrounded by quite such cultural icons during the proceedings which took place at Alrewas Hayes in Staffordshire on a warm August day.
